Bringing Alcohol Back onto a Cruise Ship

Shawn Collins · June 18, 2019 ·

During a cruise you may come across some local beer, wine, or liquor you’d like to bring back on the ship, but can you?

Shopping for wine

The good news is that you can bring alcohol back from a port to the ship on many crusie lines, but they will make you check it in and then give it back to you at the end of the cruise.

The same goes for purchases onboard of duty-free alcohol.

So, it sucks that you cannot drink your newly found booze on board, but you can have it when you’re back home.

Since there are no universal rules when it comes to bringing alcohol from ports on to cruise ships you should check with your cruise line in advance.

Otherwise, you may end up very disappointed that you have to toss your purchase before getting back on the ship.
