Thomas Cook, a British travel agency that started nearly 200 years ago, recently went out of business.
According to a report in the New York Times, when Thomas Cook went out of business it left approximately 150,000 vacationers from the UK stranded on foreign soil.
Additionally, the shutdown will affect about 21,000 jobs.
Fortunately for those who booked cruises through Thomas Cook, a number of cruise lines have said they will honor the bookings.
Here are the cruise lines that will honor Thomas Cook bookings:
- Cosmos Cruises
- Cunard
- Fred. Olsen
- P&O Cruises
- Princess Cruises
- Royal Caribbean
- Saga
MSC Cruises has established up a dedicated helpline for customers due to travel in the next two weeks.
Hopefully all affected will be able to go on their cruises ok.
I book direct with the cruise lines, and after seeing how this could have devastated travel plans and only reinforces that I want to do that in the future.
